What is the significance of a straight lumbar spine?

I am a 26 year old female and I was recently seen in the ER with intolerable back pain. X-rays and an MRI were ordered, the MRI showed 2 herniated disks which were compressing the sciatic nerve and the x-ray determined that I had what the doctor referred to as a “ramrod” straight lumbar spine. I had always been under the impression that a straight spine was ideal but apparently this it not the case. Is there a known cause for the lack of curvature in the lumbar spine? What kind of effect may this have on my recovery, might it lead to increased possibility of re-injuring my back, and what are possible treatments?
